The Community Fighters
Three centuries ago, Queensland was a hub of all commercial activities. As the name suggests, it was a female-populated inhabitation. At the time, a particular census was carried out. It was discovered that for every existing male, there were at least twenty female living in the same community. It was a place to stay and every activity was a profitable venture. At Queensland, there were lots to showcase.
Geographically situated along the coast of Miranda, It trading activities were centered on buying and selling of fish. The working force, particularly women between the ages of eighteen to sixty years of age, was at the fore-front of the enterprise. Under the watchful eyes of the men who were really few in number, both parties worked symbiotically to ensure that the business went on well. As a result, Queensland was able to establish trade relations with its neigbouring communities and beyond. Queensland, by the way, was the largest in the whole of Miranda.
Queensland was a symbol of aesthetic influence, monument-personified, social hang-out of the high and mighty of the society. The buildings were magnificent and the community was floored with gold dusts. Because of the greatness of what Queensland symbolized, men, drawn far and wide, showered the community with precious gifts.
People of Queensland were self-sufficient: they could afford all they wanted. The cost of living was low, affording the ‘poorest’ person the opportunity to purchase certain needs; food items, at least. Houses were cheap. As a matter of fact, people of this community owned their houses. They were so diligent in their activities that buying staple food items would not be a necessity.
By gender, there is increasing number of females over their male counterparts. Most of the working class was not only women-dominated but also the ones with the prosperity magnet. In the educational setting, the women were more, topping the academic charts, sent on scholarships, outside the shores of Miranda for further studies. Indeed, the literate women were at the top of their game. There was nothing that could be done!
On security issues, Queensland was a place where one could sleep with eyes completely closed. It was an inhabitation where people could do business without hearing any sounds of attacks, suspecting elements of stealing or trading materials which are not worth the price. The security force, as a result, was a bit weakened. This would, in time, spell doom for the entire Queensland community.
Georgetown was a parallel Queensland because they were just the exact opposite. Georgetown had a male-dominated population whose inhabitation was unsociable, not-flourishing as anticipated, highly beefed security system but poor literacy rate. Of course, men of importance preferred Queensland to Georgetown. This drew a raging enmity between both communities. As time progressed, the entire Georgetown council, alongside other neigbouring communities whose agendas were alike, conspired to up-turn the ever-flourishing, women-dominated Queensland. It took about eight years to orchestrate the onslaught that would in some centuries to come, depict the ruins of a once-upon-time prosperous Queensland.
The people of Queensland were peace-loving people. They shunned violence amongst themselves, let alone attacks from neigbouring communities. In fact, Queenslanders, as they called, were punished accordingly, should there be a fighting between and or amongst them. Generally, they were people who cherished hospitality, especially accommodating strangers. This disposition, other communities who were about orchestrating the downfall of this great community later got to know, would completely its highly esteemed cultural history.Spies, disguised as business merchants, were sent to Queensland by a coalition of communities set to up-turn Queensland to merchandise but with the intent to finding out the nature of the coastal terrains, hide-out of the ‘weak’ forces, best strategic points to attack the people directly and eventually part away with the possessions of the land. They went to their respective lands and delivered reports on how the conspiracy plots could translate to success. It was a successful hit!
As usual, the Queensland force was feeling peaceful and the situations of things seem to be calm without sensing impending dangers. Caught unawares, in one stride, twenty members of the force were killed with arrows pulled at strategic positions as planned by the coalition team. Before eyes could blink, they have razed the coastal blocks and penetrated deep into the community. Making matters worse, the few men were brutally exterminated, children taken captive and women being raped and if proved stubborn, killed. Some of the beautiful maidens were captured and sold as slaves to merchants from foreign towns while others were taken as mistresses to the warriors who upturned the community. They claim plenty of the spoils of Queensland; monuments, precious stones and other materials…even occupying the community’s coastal frontiers for trading. The once upon successful community became a shadow of itself. The community was almost desolate, just a containing the ruins that are next to being an empty uninhabited expanse of land. After surrendering to the very onslaught of the powers of coalition, there were just forty people that existed out of the two hundred thousand women-dominated population. The community's survivors includedhis wife and his entire household, all members of council and their families.
Queensland became a vassal entity to each of the communities that formed the coalition that led its disruption. Georgetown, Princeville and their other conspirators enjoyed great deals of royalties from Queensland very month. The few Queenslanders who were once top shots of their community were second fiddles to the small-fry-cum-super communities. Under the control of them, at the coast, Queenslanders traded their goods and returned at least 60% of returns to the people who occupied the coast. They, in return, will through the sea transport, get them to their individual communities as planned.
The people of Queensland never liked the way they were maltreated. They decided to have their own pound of flesh. First, what they did with their limited resource was to hire the services of the warriors of Hardwood, a then major beneficiary of Queensland’s succor to strengthening the force. Reciprocating the gesture, the warriors offered their services for free. Along the line, they fell in love with the damsels of Queensland. Still, they nurtured to maturity the existing males in the community. Within a space of thirty years, the recognition of an armed male-dominated population was born. With the help of an army of innumerable ostracized ‘bastards’-sons of women taken captives by the warriors that up-turned Queensland, all was set to abruptly attack the conspirators. Strategies, plots, men, arrows, gun powders, sword and the shields were all put in place. It took over ten years of planning and heartfelt sacrifices to orchestrate the hit that claim lives and destruction of properties but would become a monumental statue, centuries later.
The number of army of men was more than enough to subdue each of the communities whose thirty-year-old coalition was experiencing a non-cohesive security situation. As they were all unsuspecting of the potential threats by Queensland, it gave them the opportunity to suddenly attack and cause ruins to become an outcome for what would be the ‘combat of all time’.
The warriors launched an onslaught, taking a convergent lens orientation, with men fully armed to annihilate and destroy every life and property they see till they reach the focus-center, Georgetown. They were triumphant as they left no stone unturned, gut every building by infernos, killed every Tom, Dick and Harry of each community, including the members of council of each community and their families, precious stones and materials. Queensland experienced a wipe out of its remaining treasure; the coast. The coast was visited by carcinogenic dynamites spilled on its water surface which eventually polluted it and killed the fishes, a major source of trade and other aquatic species. It took three-year intervention of the state to halt the heated combat.
Three hundred years on, Queensland, a once flourishing entity has now become nothing but a historical assertion of peace-cum-war, precious-stone-monument-turn-statue-of-community fighters zone as archived at the Miranda’s international museum for tourists round the world to see. It is a sight to behold.
