The Making Of My Story

The Making Of My Story

I am Chimezie Benedict ihekuna, also known as Mr. Ben. I have always been determined to become a medical doctor, despite my family's poor living condition. I refuse to be humbled by my background and succumb to the watchful eyes of poverty. With the unwaivering support of (now late) mother (though, my father is found wanting in this area of responsibility), I have decided to endure all hardship for me to become a medical doctor. That had been the making of my story...

Coping with Deformity

I was Christened Chimezie Benedict Ihekuna but came to this world with a facial deformity. Despite major surgeries, I  have to put up a thick skin to the pains of being insulted, isolated and mocked at, in the presence of colleagues in schools I  had attended, neighbours in the houses I  lived with and frequent rejection by women when I woe them. Nonetheless, that doesn't stop me from believing in a better years to come.

My Falsified Result

Chimezie Benedict Ihekuna, I was called, Is always known not to do well in class. But I chose to cut corners to be in parents' Good Book by changing the results I  had at School during my elementary school years. My parents question the authenticity of my result and consequently, reporting the case to the school authority. The humiliation of being presented to my junior and senior colleagues, and classmates, for forging result still lingers in my memory, even after two decades.

Let me know what you think.
