What A life!
At senior grade, Dale became a huge follower of Von’s teachings who was his late fathers’ friend and a philosopher of repute. Dale had been a hardworking young man since the age of six; he took after his father the character. In the school’s library, he was about picking up a history book for perusal when he stumbled on the words of his role-model on his reading table: ‘three kind and great words I have for the youths: work, work, work’. This would inspire to be a workaholic all his life.
He diligently made it out of high school and enrolled for a college degree. Instead of meeting people like his colleagues did, he decided to dissociate himself from social reality and made his books and general academics his companion. At the end of his two-year program, he came out with a distinction. Subsequently, the university where he gained admission awarded him scholarships that would see him through his study years.
This inspired Dale more to work hard whereas his contemporaries where partying and seemed to be having the best of life. He became the best student of his department In no time, he was offered an employment to work as manager of a multi-national telecoms firm with mouth –watery salaries. Again, this spurred him to channel all of his energies to the success of the company he worked for. Five years later, he was promoted to a zonal head manager with mega salary and other benefits and opportunities -allowances. Dale utilized every monetary resource in his hands by investing in stocks, life savings, insurance covers, gold, bond and lands. After working for the company for fifteen years, he tendered his resignation letter opting to working with the government. The company compensated him heavily and again, he invested.
After many years of living as a bachelor, he married Mercy. Together, they had three children; all boys. Dale had secured their future. His children would live to enjoy what he suffered to earn but did not live to enjoy. Mercy was a supportive woman who understood the person of Dale. Funny enough, despite Dale’s very-busy schedules, Mercy ensured that the home was worth the staying. Her children never complained about their father’s long absence and Dale, when he is round with his family, savors every moment spent. Indeed, Mercy and Dale lived happily like typical couples who were always available for each other.
He worked with the government for ten years when it was discovered he had a cardiac attack that led to his sudden departure. His family was heavily compensated by the government but that did not cannot commensurate with the fact that Dale will be sleeping, not wake anymore. From then on, Maria, re-orientated her three boys, who were treading their father’s footsteps, saying: ’there are two things you need to get in this life; get what you want and more importantly, enjoy it”. Unfortunately, many people, like your father’, she continued, shedding tears, “never live to enjoy what they labored for. Dale worked all his life but died without enjoying a sense of pleasure”, she concluded, shedding more tears that neighbors had to console her for days.
