Introduction
Keisha, Ling, and Betty are of separate backgrounds, living in Amber. While Ling and Amber were raised in the city of Amber, Keisha's upbringing is in the slums by her single mother, Juliana, who exposes her to street life a little too early.
Keisha and Juliana are fond of trading words, even at the slightest provocation. Monique and Theresa, neighbors with Juliana, would have to intervene to settle rifts from time to time.
Despite Keisha's background, Amber Community College becomes the meeting point that will establish friendship between Keisha and Ling and Betty. Keisha tries to lure Ling and Betty, both raised in two-parent homes, to her lifestyle of prostitution. Anthony, the young man, whom she knows before gaining admission to college. However, Lin and Betty decline the quick-cash offer and focus on their studies, though they take into Keisha's suggestion at first by paying him a visit.
Ling and Betty draw the line, severing their friendship with Keisha, despite being roomates. Keisha continues her fast-lane life of harloting around and having the company of men on and off campus. It gets to the point she has to leave school to get into the streets properly.
Years after, her dwindling youthfulness sees her getting pregnant by some random man. Living from paycheck to paycheck, while indulging in drugs and incessant smoking, she struggles to care for herself and her daughter. Both women can offer financial assistance but cannot process her request.
Keisha, known for her lifestyle in the whole Amber community, sees the need for help from a known psychologist, Beatrice. Unknown to Keisha, Tate X, Beatrice’s younger brother, Instead of counselling Keisha professionally, Beatrice tells her what she did to Tate X and how related she is to him. She ensures Keisha sees the exit to her office.
She later learns her mother, whom she chose not to see for years, is no more. Undisturbed about the impact of the news on her lifestyle, Keisha is on the streets as a single mother—still prostituting...
